Cameron Yoe 12, Franklin 6
Our young team is starting to peak at the right time. Franklin is the best 2A team we have played this year, and we did what we needed to all around to get this win. Hit the ball extremely well. 11 or 12 hits including a grand slam by Smitherman. Defense, for the most part played well. The outfield was tough to play today with the wind, but I think we played about as well as your could expect. Franklin has a very strong 1-9....not a weak spot throughout that lineup. Pitching was also solid. They started off their #1(went 4 innings -gave up 4 or 5 runs)...throws mid 80s with a good off-speed that he can locate. I would have to think them, Brock, or Sunnyvalle would be the one to represent Region II at state.

Cameron Yoe 14, Thrall 0 FINAL 5 INNINGS
Overall, just a good way to wrap up the warm-up schedule heading into the playoffs. Got the starters in about 3 innings of work and then got some of the younger players some playing time. Next up will be Hallettsville this Friday at Bastrop Cedar Creek - 7:00 1st pitch.

Lexington 4, Schulenburg 3 - Looks like Lexington came out and played up to their capabilities tonight....good win for them.
Cameron Yoe 6, Hallettsville 5 - Good win to start out the series for us. Came out and hit the ball well off of Schindler in that 1st inning. Our starter did a good job tonight of battling through an injury. Hit a few batters and walked some(very uncommon for him), but he battled through the pain and picked up the W. Our offense did what they needed to win the game. You have to like when your bottom of the order comes through in the big moments when the top is struggling. Harrell, hitting in the 8-hole, came up with a walk-off rbi double in the bottom of the 7th to score Charanza from 1st with 2 outs. Overall, a solid win for our young team....we will see what happens tomorrow.

Great series between two quality teams in Hallettsville & Cameron Yoe. In the end, I think the experience and senior leadership was key for Hallettsville in this one. They were able to make things happen in both games and were able to get two tough wins. We did some things well, but just did not have enough this year. I believe the offense & defense for Hallettsville will determine how far they go. They hit the ball well at times today and made some really difficult plays look routine. The pitching is what it is. They have quite a few quality arms, which was stated earlier in the season on this board. The top 3 are pretty solid. Nothing overpowering, but if their defense plays like they are capable, they will more than likely be in any game they play. We saw their top freshmen pitcher come in. Had some controls issues, but did have some heat for a freshmen. Obviously has 3 more years for improvement, so he could be something special by the time he is a senior, if he progresses.
Tough way for us to go out, but it should bode well for us in the upcoming years. Congrats to Hallettsville, and good luck in the next round. I don't believe they will have too many problems with Boling, which should setup a matchup between Weimar & Hville in the regional quarters.
