I believe, if Rogers could somehow beat Jarrell, that would be huge for them. They can still get in, but they already have loses against Lexington & Academy from the 1st round, so this would be big tonight. We need to take care of business against Thorndale and solidify are #2 spot. Lexington should not have too many problems with Lago. Academy & Florence SHOULD be a close, similar to the last meeting.

Solid night overall. Offensively we had about 10 hits on the night. Had opportunities to really break it open but did a good job with the bats. Pitching was also solid. Evan pitched a complete game, just giving up the 1 run and around 3 or 4 hits total on the night. The Thorndale pitcher did not do a bad job. Early on he was throwing way more curve balls than anything and then went to the fastball in the later innings.

All the games are big at this point. Florence can afford to lose to Jarrell tonight, but a win would be big. If Academy loses to Lago again then I believe it is going to be hard to make a run with Jarrell & Cameron Yoe still left on the schedule. I believe Rogers will take care of business against Thorndale tonight.

Well, you never want to lose, but as I was telling FlorenceBuffs on Twitter, I don't feel too bad about this one. We started off the game scoring the 1st run on 3 hits, but ran into an out that cost us at least 1 more run. Our starting pitcher just was not on tonight. I give Lexington a lot of credit, because they hit the ball really well. Everything they put in play seemed to find the hole, plus the 2 HR's didn't hurt. We finally started making the comeback during the top of the 5th. Got 2 runs in that inning, followed by 6? the next inning to bring it within 1. Had a opportunity to tie it up in the 7th, and the batter hit a shot, but it was right at the left fielder. This loss still hurts, but we still have a 1 game lead for 2nd, and we put together some impressive at-bats to keep competing, which I liked to see from this young team.
